Estimator will prepare and compile bids or estimates for Civil / Site projects, which include earthwork, underground wet and dry utilities, concrete work, streets, etc.  The Estimator will request and gather bids from various subcontractors and suppliers to determine the best value before for review by a Supervisor and prior to submitting final bids to owners/developers. The Estimator is also expected to have a knowledge of civil / site construction in all facets of horizontal construction. Experience and relationships with Austin Area contractors and suppliers are preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

• Request and obtain proposals from subcontractors and then compile the proposals in an overall bid for presentation to executive and field teams for review.
• Verify subcontractor bids versus the engineer quantities and perform in-house take-offs utilizing Agtek or other estimating tools to ensure accuracy of estimates. 
• Able to manage multiple projects while meeting bid deadlines for each bid.
• Able to understand and manage the capacity of company personnel and subcontractors while preparing bids.
• Able to quickly evaluate potential projects and determine if a project is viable and profitable for the company.
• Actively seek potential or new projects that fit within the company expertise.
• Able to identify scope gaps with subcontractors and ensure all scopes of work are covered in bids.
• Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients.
• Assist with building overall project schedules in collaboration with the team.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management or Civil Engineering or related field preferred.
• 2-3 years’ experience in civil / site construction estimating. Specifically, earthwork, underground wet / dry utilities, and roadways.
• Knowledge of local and current unit pricing for labor, machines, and material. 
• Able to perform tasks with minimal oversite.
• Able to read, understand, and interpret plans and specifications including Geotech reports.
• Familiar with standards and details of local jurisdictions.
• Proficiency with Bluebeam, Excel and Agtek required. Experience with Autodesk Construction Cloud / HCSS preferred.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Organized and has good communication skills to explain bids to team.
• Self-driven team player.
